Nothing. OMG Music is completely free for musicians, nonprofits, and fans. There are no hidden fees, no upfront costs, and no contracts. You only pay when you purchase a song ($1 each). Musicians and nonprofits earn from sales — they don't pay to join.

How do payouts work? +

All payouts happen monthly via Stripe direct deposit. Musicians receive their 50% share, nonprofits get 40%, and fan affiliates get 10%. There's no minimum threshold — you get paid whatever you've earned, every month.

How are nonprofits verified? +

Every nonprofit must submit valid IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status documentation. Our admin team manually reviews each application. Only verified nonprofits can be cause partners on songs. This protects donors, musicians, and the integrity of the platform.

Can listeners get tax deductions? +

Yes. The 40% portion of every song purchase that goes to a verified nonprofit is tax-deductible. Listeners receive an automated IRS-compliant receipt via email after each purchase. The musician's 50% share is not deductible (it's a music purchase).

What happens if a song doesn't sell? +

Nothing bad — there's no penalty. Songs stay listed forever. We help musicians by featuring quality submissions on the homepage and promoting them through our 247-fan affiliate network. Many songs get discovered months after upload.

Can I change which nonprofit my song supports? +

Yes, musicians can change their cause partner at any time from the dashboard. The change takes effect for new sales going forward. Past sales remain associated with the original cause for transparency and accurate reporting.

How do fan affiliate links work? +

When a fan signs up, they get a unique referral code (like JAKE2024). They can append ?ref=JAKE2024 to any song, concert, or starter kit URL. When someone purchases through that link, the fan earns 10-15% commission automatically. Cookies last 30 days.

What's the $100K grant pool? +

Active verified musicians can apply for grants from our $100K annual pool. Funds can be used for recording, touring, equipment, marketing, or any music-related expense. Applications are reviewed quarterly. See the Grant Finder page for details and to apply.

Do I need a music label or distributor? +

No. OMG Music is built for independent artists. You retain 100% ownership of your music. We're not a label, distributor, or publisher. We're a marketplace that pays better than streaming and connects your music to causes that matter.

How is this different from Bandcamp or Patreon? +

Bandcamp pays 85% to artists but funds nothing else. Patreon is monthly subscriptions to creators. OMG Music is unique: we pay 50% to musicians, 40% to verified nonprofits, and 10% to fan affiliates. Plus we have a $100K grant pool, fan referral system, and concert hosting tools.
